Baron Carlson joined AEA in 2003 as a member of the Small Business Fund team. He has been involved with AEA's investments in In The Swim and PLZ Holdings.
Prior to joining AEA, Mr. Carlson was an associate at Arena Capital Partners focusing on investments in business services companies. Prior to Arena, he was with GE Capital’s private equity investment division and worked in the investment banking group at Prudential Securities.
Mr. Carlson received a B.A. in government from Dartmouth College.

David Manzano joined AEA in 2007 as a member of the middle market debt team. Prior to joining AEA, Mr. Manzano spent almost five years at Callidus Capital Management, LLC (“Callidus”), a manager of Collateralized Loan Obligations (“CLOs”) as a Principal and Portfolio Manager. Callidus is majority-owned by Allied Capital. Prior to joining Callidus in 2002, Mr. Manzano served as a consultant to The Carlyle Group evaluating several stressed loan portfolios. Prior to this consulting engagement, Mr. Manzano was a Vice President at Merrill Lynch & Co. and spent four years in leveraged finance focused on originating, structuring and marketing high yield bank loan and bond transactions for event-related financings such as corporate acquisitions, leverage buyouts and recapitalizations. Prior to Merrill Lynch & Co., Mr. Manzano spent four years as a Credit Analyst at The Chase Manhattan Bank, N.A. in both New York and Hong Kong and is a graduate of the Bank's credit training program.
Mr. Manzano holds a B.A. in Government and International Relations from Cornell University and an M.B.A. from Columbia University .

Louie Sharpe joined AEA in 1998. He has been involved in a range of AEA's activities and focuses on investments in the specialty chemicals and value-added industrial products sectors. Mr. Sharpe played a significant role in a number of the firm's investments in these areas, including Dal-Tile International, Henry and Sovereign Specialty Chemicals. He currently serves on the board of directors of Henry. Prior to joining AEA, Mr. Sharpe was in the investment banking division of Morgan Stanley.
Mr. Sharpe received a B.A. in economics from Yale University.

Kevin Bhatt joined AEA in 2006 and is focused on investments in the value-added industrial
products and consumer products sectors. Prior to joining AEA, he was with TH Lee
Putnam Ventures, a New York-based growth capital firm.
Before joining TH Lee Putnam
Ventures, Mr. Bhatt was a strategy consultant with McKinsey & Company’s New York office.
He received an M.B.A from Harvard Business School and a B.A. in economics from Princeton
University.

Rahul Goyal joined AEA in 2002 and focuses on investments in the value-added industrial products sector. He has played a significant role in executing and managing the firm's investments in Houghton International, Unifrax, Pregis, Kranson Industries, XM Satellite Radio, and Telephia.
Prior to joining AEA, Mr. Goyal was a strategy consultant with Bain & Co. in Chicago.
Mr. Goyal received a B.S. in chemical engineering with a double major in economics from Northwestern University.

Molly Gregg joined AEA in 2005 as member of the Mezzanine Fund team. Prior to joining AEA, she was at American Capital Strategies, a business development corporation. Prior to American Capital, Ms. Gregg was at GSC Partners where she worked as a generalist, evaluating and making investments in their private equity, collateralized debt obligations, and distress debt funds.

James Ho joined AEA in 2001 and has focused on investments in the consumer products sector. He has played a significant role in executing and managing the firm's investments in Acosta, Burt's Bees, and IAG Research. Mr. Ho is also involved in managing the firm's investment in Tampico Beverages.
Prior to joining AEA, Mr. Ho was a strategy consultant with Bain & Co. in Chicago.
Mr. Ho received a B.A. in economics and mathematical methods in the social sciences from Northwestern University.

Alex Hoffman joined the London office of AEA in 2004 prior to relocating to Hong Kong
in 2006. He is focused on investments in the value-added industrial,
specialty chemical and consumer product sectors, and was involved in
AEA's investments in Pregis and Convenience Food Systems.
Prior to
joining AEA, Mr. Hoffman was a manager in transaction services at
PricewaterhouseCoopers in London, focusing on financial due diligence
for the private equity market in the UK and Continental Europe. He is
a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.
Mr. Hoffman received a B.A. in French and German from Bristol University.

Christian Johnson joined AEA in 2006
as a member of the Mezzanine Fund team. Prior to joining AEA,
he was with Allied Capital in New York, originating, executing
and monitoring middle-market mezzanine and control buyout transactions.
Prior to Allied Capital, Mr. Johnson was with GE Equity, the principal investment
arm of GE Capital and Chase Securities Inc. where he was a member of the
acquisition finance group.
Mr. Johnson holds an M.B.A. from the Tuck School of
Business at Dartmouth College and a B.A. in economics from Trinity College
in Hartford, Connecticut.

Vinay Kumar joined the New York office of AEA in 2004 prior to relocating to Hong Kong in 2006. He is focused on investments in the value-added industrial and specialty chemical sectors and was involved in AEA's investments in CPG International and Pregis.
Prior to joining AEA, Mr. Kumar was a senior associate consultant with Bain & Company in San Francisco and London.
Mr. Kumar graduated with honors from Harvard University with an A.B. in history and science.

Mr. Maechling holds an M.B.A. from the Wharton School of the

Nan McNally joined AEA in 2007 as a member of the Middle Market Debt team. Ms. McNally’s experience includes nine years of investment banking with Credit Suisse First Boston in the leveraged finance and corporate restructuring groups. In addition, she spent several years providing independent consulting and strategic planning services to Align Communications Inc., an international IT consulting firm.
Ms. McNally graduated with honors from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a B.S. in business administration.

John Smith joined AEA in 2005 as member of the Mezzanine Fund team. Prior to joining AEA, he spent 3 years at AlpInvest (formerly NIB Capital Private Equity), a global private equity manager. Prior to AlpInvest, Mr. Smith was at 212 Ventures, the technology arm of Investcorp. Prior to this position, he was at Credit Suisse First Boston in the leveraged finance and financial sponsors group.
Mr. Smith graduated with honors from Georgetown University with a B.S. in business administration with a double major in finance and marketing and a minor in psychology.

Prior to joining AEA, Mr. Welsch was an analyst in the investment banking division of Merrill Lynch & Co. in New York.
