AEA

Small Business
Private Equity

Founded in 2004, AEA’s Small Business Private Equity team (AEA SBF) currently manages nearly $1.0 billion of invested and committed capital. The small business team is focused on making leveraged buyout investments in businesses with enterprise values generally between $25 million and $200 million.

AEA SBF helps to grow and transform companies at the lower end of the middle market by mirroring the approach and sector focus of AEA’s Middle Market Private Equity strategy. We sponsor growing companies with proven management teams and superior business models. Generally, these businesses have built a unique value proposition which enables them to grow by gaining market share serving relatively stable, fragmented markets while maintaining above average profitability.

AEA SBF seeks to back existing management in building market leaders. We partner with management to provide them with unmatched resources to grow strategically, operationally and financially. AEA’s nearly 50 year history, its many investment professionals worldwide and its extraordinary Participant network provide AEA SBF with resources typically reserved for multi-billion dollar funds. This competitive advantage provides our portfolio companies with the operational and strategic expertise that have been hallmarks of AEA since its inception, helping our portfolio companies grow at an accelerated rate. The large majority of our portfolio companies are family- and founder-led businesses given our partnership approach and commitment to support their vision.
