AEA Acquires Generation Brands
AEA Investors’ Middle Market Private Equity team announced today that its fund has closed the acquisition of Generation Brands Holdings, Inc.
New York – July 10, 2016 – AEA Investors’ (“AEA” or the “Firm”) Middle Market Private Equity team announced today that its fund has closed the acquisition of Generation Brands Holdings, Inc. (“Generation Brands” or the “Company”). Generation Brands is a leading designer and manufacturer of decorative and functional lighting products for commercial and residential applications in the U.S.
Generation Brands’ portfolio comprises more than 30,000 lighting and fixture SKUs, organized into a “good, better, best” offering through three main brands: Tech Lighting, Feiss and Sea Gull. The Company sells to a diverse set of end markets across residential and commercial construction, including homebuilders, contractors and consumers via distributors, lighting showrooms and e-commerce platforms. With a track record of strong new product development, Generation Brands will continue to innovate, developing compelling new designs and features to maintain and grow its market share while expanding its presence in channels such as home center and e-commerce. Given the highly fragmented nature of the lighting industry, the Company also has substantial opportunity to grow through acquisitions.
