In October 2014, AEA’s Middle Market Private Equity (“MMPE”) fund acquired ProMach Group, Inc. (“ProMach”), a leading provider of automated packaging machinery solutions for food, beverage, pharmaceutical and other consumer and industrial end markets. ProMach brands operate across the entire production line, and its diverse customer base, from Fortune 500 companies to smaller, privately-held businesses worldwide, depends on the reliable, flexible, technologically advanced equipment Company provides. ProMach also provides critical systems integration services including turnkey solutions, design/build, engineering services, and productivity software to optimize production line design and deliver maximum uptime.
During AEA MMPE’s ownership, we partnered with ProMach’s management team to complete nine highly strategic acquisitions to build out the existing business and expand into new segments and geographies. Significant organic growth was achieved through several key initiatives including further penetrating the integrated solutions market, emphasizing cross-selling initiatives to increase sales across brands and completing a comprehensive re-branding effort to enhance awareness of the ProMach umbrella brand and full product suite and capabilities. AEA MMPE also helped implement an organizational design and capabilities review to ensure that the right talent and reporting structure were in place to support growth. This in turn led to a series of investments including the launch of the “ProMach Business Process” to optimize programs and resources in order to drive best practices across pricing, sourcing, lean implementation and acquisition integration. Significant organic and inorganic growth coupled with strategic platform development and business integration led to a significant EBITDA increase during AEA MMPE ownership.
