Barbara Burns is General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer of AEA and a Partner. In her role, she is responsible for the firm’s legal, compliance and regulatory functions worldwide.

Before joining AEA, Barbara was the head of legal coverage for Morgan Stanley Real Estate Investing, the real estate private equity division of Morgan Stanley. Prior to her work at Morgan Stanley, she practiced law at Sullivan & Cromwell LLP, focusing on mergers and acquisitions, securities and private equity in its New York and London offices.

Barbara graduated from the University of Pennsylvania, where she earned a B.A. in international relations and economics and a J.D. with honors.
